I graduated from Temple University in May 2015. I loved school and have always been a very self-motivated person. However, in the years since graduating life has felt very out of control and chaotic. Everything from having open-heart surgery to struggling in the job market to my dad passing away has made me feel very helpless. I have gain weight, had trouble sleeping, experienced major anxiety attacks, and overall wasn’t doing okay.
BUT . . . Life sucks sometimes and that’s okay. Surviving shitty situations does make you stronger. Even if it may not seem like it at the time. You can always learn something.
Eventually, I landed a steady full-time job which I actually enjoy. I went on anxiety medications and started focusing on yoga and mediations to help my mental health improve. My life is much more calm now. Recently, I have made the decision to better my nutrition and get my physical body healthy.
It took me a bit to convince myself to hire a nutrition coach because money. I didn’t know if a coach would actually be helpful and worth the money. I was wrong.
My nutrition coach is quickly becoming one of the best resources I’ve tapped into and a great support system. The best part about having a nutrition coach is having a plan specific to your life. Plus whenever you have a question, you send them a text and they find the answers for you. After all, you are paying for their services. Ask them any pertaining to their area of expertise you’ve ever been slightly curious about. It is not only their job, but their passion to help you.
My nutrition coach is Halie Mangiaruga of Quads Like Halie Nutrition and she is amazing. She is only 25 years old, but has amazing ambitious. She has been able to turn her passions into a business and create a career for herself which she loves. She sets you up with a personalized nutrition plan based on your lifestyle, goals, and current eating habits. She is also on-call 24/7 for any concerns, questions, or insecurities you need to discuss.
Since beginning my personal nutrition journey last month, I have already lost a few pounds and I am feeling much better about the food I eat and the way my body looks. I was beginning to become depressed every time I would get dressed because my clothes were not fitting correctly anymore. I felt fat and bloated. I wasn’t confident in my appearance anymore which started to lower my confidence as a person. And that sucks. I am very happy I made the decision to get help from an expert and truly take control over my nutrition. Asking for help and investing in yourself should never be looked down upon. I have many people in my life who have questioned why I would spend money for someone to tell me what to eat. First of all, she focuses on so much more than simply what you are eating, but also because I want to be a better person. So let the haters hate and do whatever you need to in order to be the absolute best version of yourself you can be.
Halie has also inspired me with her ambitious personality to take control over my career and create more of a side hustle. Therefore, while on my nutrition journey I am also taking on the challenge of beginning to write a book. Whether I need to self-publish or I am lucky enough to find a publisher who believes in me. . . I will be writing a book .
